The Cauchero locality is a color morph of Oophaga pumilio native to the Bocas del Toro region of Panama. In the wild, these frogs are found in warm, humid lowland rainforests where they inhabit leaf litter, fallen logs, and low vegetation within densely planted forest floors.
Description
This locality is known for its dark to bright blue dorsal coloration paired with a lighter blue underbelly. As with all pumilio, individual frogs can vary slightly in tone and intensity, with coloration becoming more defined as they mature.
Social Behavior
Best kept as established pairs. Oophaga pumilio are highly territorial and should not be group housed, as aggression is common outside of breeding pairs.
Minimum Enclosure Size
A minimum of 18” x 18” x 18” is recommended for a pair.
